As with most folk who make their living from the Web, I spend entirely too much time in front of the screen, but a few things do pull me away:

>>Friends—all the folks who challenge me to be better and reach higher and give me tons of grace and mercy when I fail at the task. People I can laugh and play with and who help me wrestle honestly with the myriad aspects of who we really are. Friends keep me moving on the rocky path to sanity and don't mind sitting with me by the wayside to cry in frustration from time to time.

Of course, with friends there is the occasional project that needs doing. This particular one began as a rough sketch of an idea to help my friend deal with her sometimes muddy canine friend.

>>Family—we used to live in a huge Victorian that took nearly 2 years to renovate and make into a livable space, but I have recently moved to the Seattle area and Sister (who is almost like a daughter at 27 years younger, but one of my best friends, too) has begun to experience apartment living and a new job. Then there's my brother helps his wife test for and sell hearing aids.

A couple of cool recipes I found hanging out in the big red Betty Crocker Cookbook. The pecan pie is really delicious. Also included as a bonus is my killer guacamole recipe.

>>Felines—the story of how I came to have cats after years of denial is called Kitten Tale.

One of my favorite quotes that involves cats: "You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat." Albert Einstein, when asked to describe radio

Above is one of the most laid-back cats on the planet. His name is Mr. Whiskers Meow and he is about 12 years old. I like him alot! He thinks I am the center of the universe and spends most of his waking hours and a good portion of his sleeping hours in my presence.

Below are the two newest members of the household. First is Henry Ford (because he is a motor-cat and you can have him in any color you want as long as it's black), and second is TruePurr Harris. They are about 6 months old in the pictures and I am glad to have kittens in the house again. It is also good to settle down for the night with Harris 'n Ford.
